The Learning Annex

The Learning Annex is a well known company that specializes in adult education. The courses the company offers range in subject from cooking to advanced real estate techniques. Most of the classes they offer are taught by well known celebrities or experts because they believe they will receive a greater response to celebrity instructors.

The company has been around since the 1980's and has recently re-launched with a very prominent advertising strategy. One of their current Real Estate Wealth Expo programs promises appearances by Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, and a few other well known real estate gurus.

Here's the problem. Hiring celebrities to teach classes is not cheap. Therefore, the Annex isn't as concerned about teaching you something as they are with selling you additional educational materials.

Sadly, quite a few speakers are taking advantage of the attendance numbers produced by these big name celebrities. People attempting to sell products with hyped up sales and success figures have a greater chance of selling something at a seminar attended by a celebrity because people will associate the celebrity with the products that they see at the same time.

They do have a few genuinely interested and educated instructors teaching their courses. Most of the problems occur at real estate and money making classes. People tend to heavily market their books and products and wealth building seminars more than at others.

Their reputation is starting to suffer as a result of these practices. Customers are beginning to complain about the sales pressure they feel during what is supposed to be an educational event.

Think about it this way. Donald Trump supposedly receives approximately $1 million dollars an hour to speak at seminars and events. The Learning Annex has to find a way to pay for his appearance. Not all Learning Annex programs are bad, but you must be careful when you make your choice - stay away from programs that talk about real estate and wealth building and you won't find yourself smack in the middle of a live infomercial!
