Rich Dad
Rich Dad Poor Dad is a book written by Robert T.Kiyosaki. The book was his first and most successful. This success led him to create his own company known as CASH FLOW Technologies, Inc.
RDPD was Robert's attempt at creating a guide to teach others how to obtain their wealth goals. He shares not only financial advice and strategies, but also imparts motivational advice based on his experiences growing up.
As he was growing up, Robert Kisosaki realized that there were two main mentalities regarding wealth. His father worked hard for a living but had not accumulated any real level of tangible wealth. His friend's father, on the other hand, always had money and was always investing it to make more money.
Robert wrote his book in an effort to talk about money as seen through the eyes of the rich dad, his friend's father. We want to earn money, but we also want to allow our levels of wealth to grow without a huge amount of effort.
The book has had a huge motivational impact on new entrepreneurs. For some, it provided the encouragement they needed to let go of their safety blankets and start their own businesses.
Critics have, of course, questioned some of the methods outlined in the book. Rich Dad Poor Dad talks a lot about real estate and other investments that require you to come up with money with which to begin your investing.
CASH FLOW Technologies, Inc has tried to make the subject of business and finance more entertaining. They have done this by creating two board games, known as Cash Flow 101 and 102. Critics claim these games make wealth building seem easier than it really is.
While I don't recommend this publication as a source of financial wisdom or education, I do think that the book is great for motivating new entrepreneurs. The book seems to gloss over some important topics by not providing enough detail, and Robert's personal ethics have been questioned on one or two occasions. Robert Kiyosaki is earning money from the sale of his products, but is he really building his wealth by following his own advice?
After examining and testing hundreds of money-making opportunities and work at home programs, ONLY ONE brought in a paycheck that covered all my monthly expenses.
