National Recreational Properties
NRPI, known as National Recreational Properties, Inc. is a company that was developed to sell property across the United States. Chuck Woolrey and Eric Estrada (formerly a Chips star) host the infomercials which advertise land at incredibly low prices.
Jeffrey Frieden and Robert Friedman are in charge of running National Recreational Properties, Inc.'s corporate offices located in Irvine, California. The company continues to sell properties in some very popular locations throughout California, Arizona, Washington State, and Texas. Some of the most famous are Ocean Shores (WA), Bella Vista (AR), Lake Shastina (CA), California City (CA), and Horseshoe Bay (TX).
The salespersons at National Recreation Properties create colorful and informative brochures for all of their properties, which appear to be priced very reasonably. In some cases, individuals interested in purchasing properties are invited to participate in weekend programs where they are invited to fly down and recieve personal tours of the land.
Unfortunately, this company and their related companies have come under fire because of their disturbing business practices. Critics claim they use misleading sales tactics to trick buyers into overpaying for land that, in reality, may never be developed.
These buyers end up buying land that will never be developed with roads, power, water, or sewer systems. They couldn't build a house on their land if they wanted to! The owners will try to sell the land, which no one wants to buy because it is not developed. They then stop paying the taxes on the land, at which point National Recreational Properties will regain rights to the land and resell it again.
The brochures that NRPI send their prospective buyers are fraudulent as well. They advertise beautiful amenities, such as lakes or ocean front properties, but buyers often find these beautiful landscapes are no where to be seen. Before buying any land, do your own research on the property by contacting local real estate agents or municipalities.
I can't tell you how many stories I've heard from people who lost money by purchasing land from National Recreation Properties. It isn't until they try to resell the land that they realize just how much they overpaid. In one case, a couple purchased a property for $60,000 but realized it was worth only $2,000 when they tried to get rid of it!
After examining and testing hundreds of money-making opportunities and work at home programs, ONLY ONE brought in a paycheck that covered all my monthly expenses.
