Work at Home Assembly

Work at home assembly jobs have been advertised for years and years. These opportunities include jobs that involve assembling children's toys, gift cards, religious crosses, and many other items that don't involve much time or skill.

This type of job opportunity is perfect for those who have a strong desire to work out of their homes. Stay at home moms, retirees, and individuals on disability are only a few examples.

Here's how these jobs work. You'll start by finding a company on the internet. The company will encourage you to purchase a startup kit for anywhere between $20 and $50. The kit you receive will include information on how to assemble the products you decided upon.

In a perfect world, the company you purchased the materials from will then buy back the products you assembled. You'll be paid for each piece you sell back to the company.

Unfortunately, the ideal situation is not always realistic. Over the past few years I have received several complaints stating that these work at home companies are not delivering on their promises.

Many people have had bad experiences when attempting to sell their completed work back to the companies. When questioned, these companies offer a myriad of excuses, often claiming that the work was not done in a satisfactory manner. They might claim the work was not up to par or they might cite small discrepancies and use them as excuses to not pay you for your work.

This trend seems to be growing. I participated in a home assembly job last year and was incredibly disappointed. After paying for my startup kit and completing my work, the company refused payment. I realized this job was a complete waste of time and quickly moved on to something else.

Take note: work at home assembly companies make money by selling you startup kits. Most don't have an established website, store, or sales team dedicated to selling these completed products.

I have yet to find a legitimate assembly opportunity. If you feel as thought you might have found a legitimate opportunity, make sure you research it thoroughly by following these simple steps:

1) Make sure the company selling the starter kit is listed in the phone book or in a standard online phone directory.

2) Find out where the company sells their assembled products, whether it is online or offline.

3) Check with the Better Business Bureau to make sure there are no complaints filed against the company.

Disregard any of the work at home assembly opportunities you are considering if they fail any of the above tests. Participation will only end up being a waste of your time and hard earned money.
